Materials

I use the Faber Piano Adventure Series for all of my beginning students. Which specific book depends on the age and experience of the learner.

For 5 - 6 year olds

I use the My First Piano Adventure series for my 5 - 6 year old students. It goes at an easy pace, and the songs are fun for the kids to play. Also I love that it has a CD for them to play with at home.

After this series they move into Piano Adventures Book 1.

My First Piano Adventures C

For 7 - 8 year olds

I use the Primer book from the Piano Adventure series to start off my 7 - 8 year olds. This book eases the students into reading sheet music and goes at a faster pace than the My First Series.

Piano Adventures Primer Books

After the Primer they go straight into the Piano Adventures series.

Piano Adventures 1

Piano Adventures 2A

Piano Adventures 2B

Piano Adventures 3A

Piano Adventures 3B

Piano Adventures 4

Piano Adventures 5

For 9 and up

I use the Accelerated Piano Adventures Series for my 9-year old and older students. It moves at a faster pace than the Primer, and is more suited to the dexterity an older student has.

Book 1 covers the Primer and Level 1 of the main Piano Adventures Series.

Book 2 covers Levels 2A and 2B. Once students finish book 2B they move into Book 3A of the Piano Adventures Series.

For Adults

I use the Adult Piano Adventure Series with my adult students. It moves at an even faster pace than the Accelerated Piano Adventures, but still covers all the basics. It's less cutesy than the other Series and everything (Theory, Lesson, Performance pieces) is in this one book.
